Being an old lady, I cannot say I loved the book, but the 8-year-old boy I bought it for does love it and is always eager to discuss the merits of any and all of the items in it. He is now eager to go on to the more recent version, which will no doubt arouse his desire to buy more sets of legos. He has the story of the relationships of the characters and their adventures practically memorized, although the story line is simple and seems to me an endless (and boring) round of fighting, contrived just to bring in new characters, their weapons, and their frightful vehicles. The boy, however, is at that Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) age where explosions and fighting have captured his imagination. The company has a good thing going here; like barbie dolls, there is no foreseeable limit to the future invention of new tiny characters, their equipment, and their vehicles, and, of course, the money brought in from their sale.The book is printed on good, shiny paper, with bright colors and a lot of details. I found the layout of pictures and explanations well-done, and I admit that I did enjoy the cleverness of many of the made-up names (many of them being over the boy's head, he being an ESL learner), as they referenced figures in classical mythology, Japanese words, and other things hinting of wider reading on the part of the writer(s).

Bought this for my 5yr old son who, as a Lego enthusiast, became an instant Lego Ninjago fan after finding episodes of it on Netflix. Now I feel it's relevant to point out he doesn't watch a lot of tv, and I always try to limit the content to his age, so I was worried with a Y7 rating for the show it would be over his head, but being lego characters really helped to diminish the fighting & bad guys to a more little-kid friendly level. However, I think he had a hard time keeping all the characters & story lines straight, so I started searching for a book. We had received the Lego Batman guide book that's similar to this as a gift awhile back, so when I saw this one I thought it would be a hit. I definitely UNDERESTIMATED just how much he would like this. Over a year later he still looks at this book about 3 - 4 times a week and has become a Ninjago character expert. I've since been searching for new versions that will include the newer seasons, as this one is only season 1 and 2. It doesn't cover much of the story line, but it shows all the lego vehicles & sets associated with certain scenes and episodes (which is good and bad, becuase in the back there's a full list of all the ninjago sets by year and product number . . .for easy ordering for mom or dad!! yikes.) Anyways, if your child is a fan of Lego Ninjago, I'd recommend this book.

My son (age 8) has several of these DK Lego books. I have reviewed all of them and would give them (and this one) 6 stars if I could. Amazon has excellent prices on them and they are well worth it if you have a young person who likes Lego's. This one, like most, comes with a special edition Lego mini-figure (even though the product page shows the insert area blanked out). It has the entire Ninjago universe laid out in extremely colorful and detailed photos. Even one of the small bagged Target sets that my son got a year ago gets a whole page to itself. Very detailed photos but more importantly a lot of written material as well associated with each page, set, and figure. My son lugs these around the house and prefers to read them to watching TV. He likes to read about the little tidbits associated with the characters and sets, and although not perhaps incredibly intellectually stimulating, it is reading and most importantly he does it on his own, is interested in the subject matter, and likes to talk about what the books are telling him. (I will also admit that I have read them all to, just because they are that well done.)We are over two months into the Lego Batman DK book and he still reads it daily. Star Wars and Lego Harry Potter are still by his bed and get read weekly and they are about a year old in our house. This one being new has displaced them on the top of the heap. At the price Amazon discounts these they are well worth. I highly recommend. Also Scholastic publishes a similar looking and titled book on the Lego ninjago universe also with free figure. The DK book however has the actual Lego sets in it as well as descriptions about the characters and ninja go universe. The scholastic book just has descriptions on the characters and doesn't actually feature any Lego sets. We have both in our house and the DK book is the nicer of the two in my opinion.

This is a fantastic book for any Lego Ninjago fan!The book has sturdy construction with thick cardboard covers coated in a virtually waterproof finish! This book will last forever!Unlike most books aimed at kids, my son has been able to put this in his backpack and take it to school, loan it to friends, leave it rolling around in the car for a week and it still looks amazing!Very well made product.The extra mini figure it comes with was a HUGE hit too! My son practically head a heart attack when he saw it! Apparently that character is the ultimate Ninjago character and is sought after by everyone, so if you haven't been able to find the individual packs this is a great alternative to buying one of the larger more expensive sets if your child wants 'the green ninja!'.The book itself is really nice actually, full color on every single page, and each page is devoted to either a character or a set and it lays out each and every character down to the evil skeleton guys! It includes facts and action shots and has large almost full page images of the characters in each of their forms, such a DX, ZX, etc...My son is an AVID Ninjago fan and even he learned a few things about the characters and their individual stories he didn't already know!It's really an essential book for any fan of the series, and even if there is a passing interest I would think this would be a great choice. It really is a wonderful compilation and has become a revered tome in my house!

I believe this book is great for testing your knowledge, however it lends to must frustration when the on-line answer key boasts incorrect answers. I find myself questioning my concrete knowledge. But really after 10 editions providing incorrect answers to students should not even be a topic of discussion. I hope the publisher actually reads this and takes it into consideration.

This book is filled with poorly worded questions to which it supplies NO ANSWERS. This is the first time I've ever encountered a workbook that did not supply the correct answer, not to mention some type of explanation or reference to the textbook. This is very unfortunate, since the corresponding textbook is first class; the workbook was a tremendous let down.

About the Author

Thomas Jefferson was born in Virginia in 1743 into a wealthy and socially prominent family. After attending the College of William and Mary, he went on to study law. At the age of twenty-six, Jefferson began building Monticello. Three years later, in 1772, he married Martha Wayles Skelton. The couple had six children, two of whom survived to adulthood. Considered elequent in his writing, although not as his speech, Jefferson took on much of the writing needed by the Virginia House of Burgesses and the Continental Congress, both of which he was a member. In 1776, at the young age of 33, Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence. From 1779 to 1781, Jefferson served as Governor of Virginia. Jefferson temporarily retired from public life after his term as governor, returning to public life in 1784 as a diplomat serving in France. In 1790, Jefferson was appointed Secretary of State in President Washington's Cabinet, but resigned in 1793 over a disagreement with Alexander Hamilton. As political disagreements continued to polarize the young government, Jefferson found himself leading those who sympathized with the revolutionary cause in France. In 1800, Jefferson was elected President in a tie vote that ironically was decided by Alexander Hamilton. In 1809, after two terms as President, Jefferson returned to his home in Monticello, where he developed, among other projects, plans for the University of Virginia. In addition, he sold his collection of books to the government to form the basis of the Library of Congress. Thomas Jefferson died on July 4, 1826.

Great!

J Verne was my favorite author when I was a child and I read a similar cartoon like series of all his books back then and it was what hooked me up to reading. Since then I have been a voracious and avid reader. I was not able to find that, so bought most of his book on this series and I must say I have been rather disappointed. The translation and summary is of poor quality, and not necessarily all that appropriate for children. I would search for a better translation. The drawings are not bad. But over all, I can't recommend it.

Excellent, makes you want to read the original.

This is a life changing book. I got the Audiobook as well as the Kindle version of this book; read, listened and recited at those points suggested by the author, making it as immersive an experience as I could. I was more than rewarded for my investment; I went into Samadhi (thoughtless awareness) several times during the execution of this truly blessed and powerful book. I have gone to spiritual retreats, had several spiritual master teachers, and the good fortune of several spiritual initiations; sitting in a group practicing a high powered pranayama I may have approached some highly charged event, but I have never gone into Samadhi reading or reciting anything until this. I have been in different activities that featured the Ascended Masters, witnessed and participated in miraculous occurrences supported by Their Presence throughout my adult life, but this is an order of magnitude beyond any phenomena I have yet experienced. The promises made in this book seem extravagant, but if this is only the beginning of our journey, you will bring more Light to the table than you ever imagined possible.
