I am inspired by this book....kids need one on one time, they need to slay dragons and fly to the moon, not only does play help them grow intellectually, it expands their mind, Jed offers easy, cost effective ways to connect with your kids, it's too easy to lose kids to the streets but I am a firm believer if you play with them, encourage them...teach them to use their imagination, not only will your relationship grow but their imagination will be endless, which helps in many many things in life, because what is life but something we be creative brainstorm through. Great job Jed!!!!! A must read... for your kids, your grands, neighbors kids any one.... what a fun thing to do at family dinners
This book is great. It has a lot of ideas and most of them are free. You don't have to buy a single thing to try out the author's ideas. Obviously, I'm not going to try out all 131 activities because not every activity will interest me or my girls. But they did help me think of other things we could do.I especially like #53 because we do that anyway around Christmas. It never occurred to me to do it as a boredom busting activity.The best thing I liked about this book is that it was short but it was just a list of random things the author put together to sell on Amazon. There was real thought behind this book, so I'm glad I got it.
This was a good reminder to me how important play is. I often feel like I need to be part of the play. Although that is good, that uses a lot of my energy. This was a good reminder that I can help encourage play and then leave my kids to it.Great ideas as well. A good mix of a few original ideas as well as reminders of classic favorites. Many of them I loved as a kid and have yet to introduce to my kids.
The author’s style is engaging and “speaks†with a voice that is authentic. The activities are practical in nurturing creativity in children while promoting learning and responsible behavior. I especially like the activity to dress up like Cinderella and sweep the kitchen floor. Clever! Other activities involve including grandparents into the children’s lives that is kind and thoughtful. There is a bonus gift about happiness.I have already highly recommended this book to friends who have children and grandchildren.The author has made my gift giving easy for upcoming birthdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas!
This tiny "book" is a flimsy list of obvious kids' activities ("ride a bike") and others that few kids would do without adult involvement "Build a kite using items from home. Be sure to test it". There are a few good ideas if kids are very willing & imaginative, but also sexist one s like "Girls dress as Cinderella and sweep the floor" and christian propaganda about scripture and bible stories.
Though I do not have kids (yet), I imagine "family fun" isn't as easy to come by anymore. With games, computers, consoles, and phones easily accessible, family life will sure be different. That is why I am thankful for people like Jed, who help share what has worked for him and his family. With family activities that encourage imagination, engagement, and responsibility, Jed provides a great resource for those who could use some good ideas here and there. And though not all suggestions may be taken, some may inspire your family to create your own variations. By the way, there are 131 ideas! Anything that can help the family have a better time together is worth time studying. Thankful to Jed and his family!
This is a great resource for parents and grandparents of young children up through elementary school. It has all sorts of activities both arts and crafts to outdoor activities. It’s great to have it all in one place and available anytime!
Well worth the time. Lots and lots of ideas that can help the family spend quality time together. The activities are fun and encourage the development of creativity.This book is full of activities to do with your kids. Getting kids away from tablets and phones is not easy, but many ideas in this book work toward that end. This is a book I will refer to often. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
