It's always challenging to find books that will motivate boys to read. This series by Gerald Morris is definitely a winner in my book!"Sir Lancelot" is a age-appropriate intro to the Knights of the Round Table that has an entertaining mix of legend, humor, action, and masterful storytelling. At times it's silly, but Gerald Morris has a way of writing that engages both kids and adults--everybody in my house gathered around to hear the next chapter. I read them aloud to my boys and now they've read and reread them several times (which doesn't happen too often). In a children's book market which seems saturated with dumbed down stories of underachievers and troublemakers, it's nice to find some heroes.Mr. Morris respects the Arthurian tales and brings his love to a new generation. My 6 and 8-year-olds are hooked and we've bought every book in the series. We've also recommended these to all our friends.

A rollicking sendup of the most over-idolized and famous knight of all time, The Adventures of Sir Lancelot the Great is a refreshing change from the usual dark fare of Lancelot du Lak (Lance of the Lake). Gerald Morris' take on the story portrays Lancelot as a knight convinced that shiny armor is more important than noticing the multiple armored knights charging at him....Lancelot is here portrayed not as a romantic hero, but a guy whose natural excellence in all things knightly is balanced by a rabid case of obtuseness, cluelessness about women, and a strange retiree-esque obsession with naps. A funny novel, and a much cheerier dose of Lancelot than anything else I've ever read. Your kids will laugh at Lancelot's "curious" wound, his inexplicable denseness on so many issues, and his endearing lack of awareness that his greatness is a royal pain to everyone else- not just to his napping habit!

This book is really awesome. It is about a man that wanted to become a knight .He became one of king Arthur's knight's. And he was one of the best fighters. Once, he didn't want to be a knight, so he went to be in the forest. And a bad knight had a pear poisoned, and the queen gave the pear to a knight without knowing, and it killed that knight. They were looking for someone to help them. If you want to learn the rest, you have to read the book. This book is very manly. I think you should read it out loud with your kids, because it is awesome.

Cool book that went along with my sons curriculum. Fun stories!

Really silly retelling of the most famous knight at King Arthur's round table. I gave it as a birthday gift and my nephew really enjoyed it.

Historical humor and great writing. I really recommend this book for kids of all ages. In one chapter it teaches a very valuable and humorous lesson: Don't ride a horse in a forest full of wild game!😄😝😜

This book was creative as much as it was funny and I would really want to read it again and again. I hope you pick this book!!!!!

Great books for girls or boys. My children laugh out loud and enjoyed them all.
